Africa Daylight Saving Time

Daylight Saving Time (DST) is not used in most of Africa. However, the countries of Libya, Morocco, Namibia, and Western Sahara do observe Daylight Saving Time.

Tunisia ended the use of daylight saving time in 2009. Egypt ended the use of daylight saving time in 2011, however, Egypt resumed the usage of daylight saving time for one year in 2014. At this time Egypt does not observe daylight saving time.

On November 10, 2012 Libya changed time zones from UTC/GMT + 2 (Eastern European Time) to UTC/GMT + 1 (Central European Time). This resulted in clocks being turned back by one hour. Libya also announced that effective 2013 it would observe daylight saving time from the last Friday in March through the last Friday in October.

Libya delayed the end of Daylight Saving Time which was scheduled to end on Friday October 25, 2013 at 2:00 AM local daylight time. At this time no new date for ending daylight saving time has been established.

Morocco temporarily ends Daylight Saving Time before Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, on Sunday May 27, 2017 at 3:00 AM local daylight time.
